April Character Trait: Perseverance Dear CCA Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff, Thank you SO much for making Mini-Relay For Life such a success once again! It was so great to see the spirit the kids had during our Cancer Prevention Week. Through the generosity of everyone at CCA, our school raised $2210.00 for the American Cancer Society!! (Over the 6 years we’ve hosted Mini-Relay, we’ve donated over $10,300 to the ACS!) The money will be donated to Relay For Life of Southern Weld County in CCA’s name. Because CCA raised so much money, we are considered one of the top sponsors, or Diamond-level sponsors, of Relay For Life, and CCA’s logo will be at the top of the Relay For Life t-shirts.
In case you’re not familiar with it, Relay For Life is a 18-hour event that will be held at Schey Park in Keenesburg on June 26th-27th. The children decorated the “filler” luminaria bags during Mini-Relay, and these bags will line the walking track at Relay For Life. “Filler” bags are the decorated bags that supplement the bags with names on them to make the walking track look beautiful when lit up through the evening. Thank you, CCA families, for all your donations. Together we are making a difference in the battle against cancer! Thanks to PTO for purchasing Relay prizes for the students and the healthy snack that was served. Thanks also to Deep Rock Water for donating the water, the Rigoli Family for assembling the snack bags, the Swieter Family for donating the hair color, and Love’s Travel Stop for donating ice. Thank you to Keene Floral for donating two beautiful bouquets of flowers to our guest speakers. Mini-Relay Planning Committee: Stacy Thompson, Ellen Swieter, Robin Erker, Damaris Cooksey, Kim Rigoli Small Wonders Preschool will be located at CCA next school year. See the details here.
Mrs. Cole's 3rd graders and aide, Ann Streit, perform a skit to illustrate February's Character Trait of the Month; self-discipline. Selected by their peers for best demonstrating self-discipline in their classes, students Brooke Franke, Cheyann Hein, Madison and Brooklyn Unruh, Natasha Zimbelman, Garrett Postle, Bryson Clark, Alex Erker, and Kelly Miller receive award certificates and recognition during the February assembly.
January: Cooperation CCA Web site gets a FAVICON Science Fair!
All 5th-8th graders participated in the CCA 7th Annual Science and Engineering Fair. This year the fair was held in the lunchroom on January 7th. The projects were displayed through Friday morning so both students and parents could take a look at the fair. Many interesting, practical and creative projects were presented to a distinguished panel of judges consisting of Mr. David Pfuhl of WCJH, Troy Dowdy D.V.M, and Mr. Ron Stites, director of research at Range Fuels. Fifth and sixth graders worked individually on projects, while the 7th and 8th graders had the opportunity to work in groups if they so desired. First, second and third places were awarded within each group. Grand and reserve champions were selected from among the first and second place projects. Top honorees were: |
