Overview

Hello 3rd grade families,

Happy February! We have three weeks until February break. The week before break is parent teacher conferences. The sign-up for conferences will come out tomorrow at 6pm. I will also post a parent survey this week to fill out before we meet.

This week will be fun. We have the Penny Wars for wish week, so make sure to bring your extra change in. Easton and Cassie will finally get to go on their field trip this Friday. With play there is work, which means a math assessment on Thursday. It will be great!

Next week we have the Valentine’s Day Breakfast on Friday 2/13. We will do Valentine’s boxes either right before or after our breakfast that day. If you decide to bring Valentine’s, please make sure there is enough for everyone. If you don’t want to deal with a box, just bring a bag!

Academics

Math:

We will assess Ch 8 on Thursday. We will move into Ch 9 which is more fractions!

Fact fluency: Our fact challenge is underway. Students can earn prizes for passing each level of multiplication 0-10’s.

The Challenge ends February 20th

CKLA:

Space continues and we get to learn about scientists/astronomers, such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo and Mae Jemison.

Literacy:

We will read about astronomy in our readers.

HD Word literacy groups- working on closed syllables, digraphs and correcting reading in passages.

Book Club- Reading next chapters in “I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916”.

RIGGS:

Tuesday test #147, Wednesday test #148, and Thursday test #149.

Writing:

Comparative writing.
