This week: |
We wrapped up our curriculum content for the year Friday!!
We will spend the next couple of weeks working on some different math activities to continue to review what we've learned this year! |
We are having to work extra hard over the next week or so to make sure we can get through all of it before grades are due! We will be doubling up on the remaining Native American Lessons to account for the TWO upcoming field trips to ensure we make it through! Students will take the unit READING COMPREHENSION ASSESSMENT ON FRIDAY!!
We FINISHED our Wonder Novel Study last week. This is one of my favorite books. We often had amazing conversations throughout the book. We will watch the movie NEXT WEDNESDAY!! *Info to follow! |
We finished Westward Expansion After the Civil War on Friday!! We will use this time to double up on Native Americans!
I am hoping we will be able to touch on the 50 States and Capitals the final week of school also but time will be tight for this. |
We will use some of this time to work towards finishing Native Americans.
This may also be used as writing time Thursday and Friday for a special project. |
Students have completed and turned in Civil War Essays. We made it through half of the presentations - we will complete these on Tuesday.
I am going to attempt another special writing project the last week of school. I will introduce this final writing project to them on Tuesday. We have had brief discussions. This will have less impact on their grades, however, it always has a HUGE impact on students and families! Students will choose someone important to them - someone they look to as a hero or for advice - and will write an essay about what makes this person their hero. This MUST be someone who they associate with. They may *NOT* write about a celebrity or athlete unless they know them personally. With that being said - it does NOT have to be a family member. This person does NOT have to be still living either.
I will share examples of previous hero essays for examples with the students Tuesday. If timing works out, I would like to have parents, families, and if possible their heroes, come in on Thursday, May 21st and allow the students to read their essays to each of you. Fingers crossed we can pull this off! |
