Here's The Happenings: |
Science: Our world of cells has expanded to neurons and the nervous system! Students are learning about the types of nerves, the lobes of the brain, and how the nervous system communicates to send messages throughout your body. On Wednesday, students will be making cell models out of food! Please ask your student what they are supposed to bring!
Homework Due 3/11: Nervous System Worksheet, Food for cell model!
Math: Chapter 6 -Algebraic Expressions & Properties We had a great week! We practiced identifying parts of an expression and what a like term is so that they can simplify expressions with variables. Yes, your students are starting to work with letters in their math. Ha! Next week we will write equivalent expressions and start to add and subtract expressions. On IXL students are practicing their fractions and in small groups they are learning about Mean, Median, Mode, Range, and how to create data displays.
Homework: 6.2 Practice #1-20 due Tuesday
Social Studies: Students will be finishing up, The Revolution in Latin America. We will review the unit on Tuesday, and take the assessment on Wednesday. We will begin our next unit on immigration. |

English: 6th graders are continuing to read The Odyssey this week. Talk with your student about what they read this week. Asking them questions over the weekend will help them recall the information during the week.
Writing & Research: Our Writing and Research classes have begun a new poetry unit! Students have started exploring different types of poems and discussing how poets use language creatively.
Next week, we will dive deeper into analyzing the structure, meaning, and purpose of various poems. Students will continue building their skills in interpretation, close reading, and literary analysis. |
