Letter From Administration

Happy Friday, CCA Families!

Can you say, “Three more days and a Pop-Tart®?” Yes, next week is our last week of school, and we will close the books on the 2025–26 school year.
Last week, we celebrated with our 3rd–8th Grade Music Program. It was a full house, and we thank everyone who was able to attend our final music event of the year. The students did an amazing job! We would also like to thank Mrs. Sarah Johnson and Mrs. Karsyn Herman for all they do for our students—great job!

Our end-of-year field trips are also in full swing, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who have volunteered their time to help make these celebrations so special for our students. We also thank our PTO, who makes these events financially possible—the best PTO west of the Mississippi!

We do have a few additional and final celebrations coming up next week. First, two exciting events will take place on Tuesday, May 19th: Kindergarten Graduation at 2:40 p.m. in the cafeteria and our 8th Grade Graduation at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. Finally, one especially exciting event will be our Last Day of School on Friday, May 22nd. Please see this week’s Spotlight below for the schedule.

The 2025–26 school year has been an incredible journey, and there is no way we could have done it alone. So, a mighty Cardinal shoutout to our Board of Directors, our PTO, our extraordinary staff, our unwaveringly supportive parents, and, of course, the heart and soul of Cardinal Country—our students!

Enjoy your last weekend before summer break begins! And yes, starting next weekend, let the summer fun begin!

Be blessed...

From the Board

Happy Friday CCA!

We continue to move forward with our final candidate for the Director position, Lisa Cole. We held a town hall on Wednesday evening to give our school community an opportunity to see and hear from our candidate and to hear from the board as well. We appreciate those who showed up to this event and asked questions. The main topics discussed were communication, discipline, vision for the future, what a support structure around our candidate would look like, and budgetary concerns. Without going into great detail, here are a few things that were discussed. These are opinions of the Board, and we believe that Lisa shared her viewpoints at the meeting so we do not want to speak for her:

Communication- We will work to improve follow through in personal interactions. Overall, school-wide communication can potentially be consolidated. We can look for those opportunities.

Discipline- This responsibility lies with the Director, but as a board we would like to see discipline be consistent and fair. One thing that seems to be a sticking point is parents feeling like they don't get the "full story". There are TONS of legal requirements surrounding education and confidentiality. We would like to see as much information shared as possible, but you also will need to understand that not everything can be shared.

Vision for the Future- We would like to see a culture of accountability be at the forefront. This means accountability for staff, students, and parents.

Support structure- This is yet to be determined. Lisa WILL have a support structure in place, but it may not be a Vice Principal. This will be a discussion between the board and Lisa to determine what structure will work the best. We want to ensure that there is not overlap between job duties and that all staff is "owning" their roles.

Budgetary concerns- CCA runs on a tight budget and this board has already been addressing some issues. We held a work session in March to look for areas to trim and to capture better interest rates to bring in more income. We are looking at opportunities to put parameters on the budget to ensure there is no overrun or frivolous spending.

We always welcome CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, and ideas to improve. We are happy to listen and talk through ideas. We need help to make a structure that works for everyone. We have had good ideas come forward, but most of the issues we face as a school are nuanced and require nuanced solutions. Reach out to us anytime or attend a board meeting.

Thank you,

CCA BoD

Odds & Ends

Last Chance to Register for 26-27 school year

Parents, if you have not reregistered your student for CCA for next year, this MUST be done by the end of the day on May 22nd. If you have not done so by this deadline, your student(s) may lose their spots for next year.

If you are not planning on returning next year, please let Crystal know ASAP, and you will be sent a withdrawal form link to fill out. This is a necessary document to withdraw from CCA and for us to release your student records to the new school.

Returning students will need to be registered through your existing Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need help logging into your parent portal, please contact crystalbydalek@re3j.com

25-26 Yearbook order

It's almost the end of the school year. Be sure to get your yearbook ordered by May 22nd. You may stop in at the office and get an order form, or you can go to PurchasEase and order online. Yearbooks are $25 each. If you have an 8th grade tribute article to add, that will cost an extra $5. Yearbooks will be distributed at the beginning of next year in order to get all of the end of the year activities added to the book.
If you have any questions, please contact an office staff member.
